PE ECO AND OFFSET, A SUSTAINABLE COMBINATION
We are pleased to present a new customer success story: The combination of a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly printing technique. 100%-recyclable PE ECO packaging was printed using the offset technique.
Specialists in deep-frozen foods, PRECOCINADOS POZO were looking for a very special type of packaging to launch two new products for its brand LEDUAN COPETE: vegetarian meatballs and spinach croquettes. These two new healthy options have been introduced in response to consumer demand and the trend of healthy eating using locally-sourced ingredients.
With this in mind, SP GROUP suggested a complete turnaround to bring not only the product, but also its packaging and printing, in line with current trends. The resulting product was fully sustainable both inside and out.
For the packaging material, we proposed our new 100%-recyclable PE ECO, to replace the previous two-polymer complex (OPP/PE). For printing, we used the offset technique, as its solvent-free electron beam inks dry quickly and are highly durable, making them more eco-friendly than others. Thanks to combined offset printing, we were also able to print two different models in the same run, which hugely cut down on costs.
PE ECO belongs to the ECO range, which includes all our recyclable, monomaterial solutions. It is a polyethylene-based complex, which can replace non-recyclable structures without compromising on transparency. The energy savings with this material are also enormous, as the sealing temperature is reduced in the packaging process. The structure meets the standards set by the European Commission for 2030.
Helping our clients be more environmentally friendly and sustainable is a welcome reward. If you have a project in mind and are looking for packaging solutions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
