At SP Group, we develop high-quality, adaptable plastic solutions to meet all our clients’ needs. We look at each step of the process: product design, development, packaging, distribution and preservation. From end-to-end, we have got you covered every step of the way.
We know our clients want to understand what advantages, disadvantages and opportunities transparent plastic film solutions offer. In fact, when choosing a packaging solution, you will need to consider different properties, including light and aroma barriers, watertightness, marketing requirements. You will also want to choose sustainable materials that foster a circular economy. Read on to learn more about the characteristics, advantages and applications each of these solutions offer.
1. RPET: 100% TRANSPARENT, FLEXIBLE FILM
rPET is a film entirely made from recycled materials. Made from monolayer film, it is also 100% recyclable. It can be reused once recovered which contributes to reducing industry and post-consumer waste.
This thermoformable film is highly transparent and can be easily adapted to meet any marketing and graphic design strategy. rPET films are used in the food sector to manufacture trays for cakes, biscuits, salads, and fresh fruit and vegetables. It is also used for non-food product packaging, such as perfumes, cosmetics and blister packs.
2. R-CLOSING HB EFFICIENT: A HIGH-BARRIER, RESEALABLE FLEXIBLE FILM
Used as a top film for sliced cheese and cold cut packaging, R-Closing Efficient is often paired with APET RESILIENT trays. This film is also a great sustainable packaging solution because it of its reduced thickness (available at 75 microns) and the elimination of chlorinated products in the composition.
Among the properties of R-Closing Efficient, it is important to highlight the extended shelf life it gives products because of the way the film drops smoothly and fits perfectly over the tray to reseal it after opening.
This product also offers a wide range of design options because it can have a transparent, white or metallic finish.
3. RPS: A GLOSSY, TRANSPARENT, HEADTURNING PACKAGING SOLUTION
This coextruded, peelable plastic film is the solution for vacuum-packing. It is often used to package pulses and pre-prepared dishes because of its high oxygen, aroma and moisture properties.
RPS can also be subjected to high thermal treatments used during the material manufacturing and transformation process. This thermoconformable solution can withstand 121° C temperatures during sterilisation and 95° C temperatures during pasteurisation treatments.
4. SOL EFFICIENT: WELDED DIRECTLY TO THE TRAY
If you are looking for a plastic material to seal cold cuts, pre-prepared dishes, and sauces with the rPET tray, SOL EFFICIENT is your top option. This unique flexible film is a fantastic green packaging solution, making it easy to separate, recycle and reuse the welded parts of the tray. It is an effective substitute for chlorine-based products, thus helping reduce the environmental and carbon footprint.
This highly resistant film boasts a high oxygen and vapour barrier, as well as being watertight. SOL EFFICIENT is available in a transparent and white finishes, is suitable for MAP, and is exceptionally flat and very tough.
5. DOUBLE OPP PE FLEXIBLE FILM
OPP PE is a plastic film that makes sure seafood, pre-cooked and frozen fish, cured meats and sweets are effectively packaged in a white or transparent finish.
Its phenomenal mechanical properties include watertightness and aroma and vapour barriers. This material also significantly reduces production time since it can be hot filled, sealed quickly and hot tacked.
