TICKING THOSE ENERGY EFFICIENCY BOXES
As part of our commitment to a sustainable energy model, we have now installed solar panels at our plants in Spain. The panels, located on the factory roofs, cover a total area of 28,000 m2 and have a peak power of 4,087.87 kWp.
The estimated annual production of the solar panels at SP Group’s main site is 2,367,622 kWh, which represents 21% of the plant’s consumption. At our plant that manufactures material for thermoforming trays and vacuum packs, the estimated production for self-consumption is 2,411,842 kWh, representing 14.5% of the total power used.
With this new system we will be reducing our CO2 emissions by almost 700 tonnes per year. This will mean a corresponding reduction of our carbon footprint, specifically the indirect emissions, or scope 2 emissions, which are derived from the consumption of electricity from the grid.
By installing solar panels, we are consolidating our commitment to the environment and tackling the challenge of energy transition through the use of green, non-polluting energy.
The panels for self-consumption were installed at both plants by SOLARFARM. This engineering firm has more than 10 years’ experience providing assessment, solar-panel installation and maintenance services to help companies produce their own green energy.
