TRANSFORMING FOOD: THE NEW FLEXIBLE PACKAGING BY SPG AND HUERTA CAMPO RICO IS A GAME CHANGER
With more than three decades of experience in the flexible packaging sector, and a robust presence in Spain and France, SPG continues to lead innovation and sustainability in the flexible plastics sector.
SPG recently worked on fantastic project with Huerta Campo Rico – a Spanish company producing natural, fresh food products – and was able to showcase its ability to successfully meet its clients’ needs. For the launch of two new products – gazpacho and salmorejo –, Antonio Cabrera, CEO of Huerta Campo Rico, wanted to move away from the traditional rigid packaging and find an innovative new solution. A flexible stand-up pouch proved to be the ideal choice.
SPG’s flexible packaging was an attractive and practical way for Huerta Campo Rico to present their products, as well as providing tangible benefits:
Longer shelf-life: With this new packaging, the product’s shelf-life becomes 3 months when refrigerated, which is a significant improvement on the 15-20 days of rigid packaging. This is a crucial factor for exportation.
Cost reduction and environmental impact: The packaging uses 60% less plastic, which cuts costs and protects the environment at the same time.
Logistics optimisation: Flexible packaging takes up less space in transport and storage, which results in significant cost reductions on the logistics side.
Printing and ease-of-use: Flexible packaging can be printed, so no labels are required. It can also be fitted with a cap and cut to shape for ease of use.
The project reflects SPG’s commitment to the continuous development of packaging solutions that not only fulfil its clients’ expectations, but also promote environmental responsibility. The collaboration with Huerta Campo Rico is an example of how innovative new products can effectively meet the specific needs of the market, while being environmentally friendly and sustainable.
