WE LAUNCH THE FIRST HIGH-BARRIER RETORTABLE, RECYCLABLE FILM FOR VACUUM PACKING
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first high-barrier retortable, recyclable top film and base web for vacuum packing, especially designed for food products in the FMCG market.
Included in the ECO range, this monomaterial solution was created in response to the EU guidelines on sustainability, known as Horizon 2030/2050, which determines that all plastic packaging must be recyclable, reusable and compostable.
The PP HB ECOTOP top film, combined with the new thermoformable RST B ECO, forms a recyclable solution that replaces conventional PA/PP and PA/PP EVOH extrusions (which are very difficult to recycle), while also offering good puncture resistance and mechanical performance. Vacuum packing lengthen the shelf life of products, preserving their nutrients, as bacterial growth is reduced due to a lack of oxygen. For SP Group, being able to offer a sustainable packaging option for vacuum packing to help fight food waste was an absolute must.
This solution is ideal for the food sector, in particular for products that require vacuum packing, such as prepared vegetables (corn on the cob, beetroot, etc.) and pre-prepared, vacuum-packed dishes.
It is the perfect solution for any products for export to Germany, where polypropylene is the main recycling stream.
PP HB ECOTOP is also compatible with rigid polypropylene thermoformable trays, providing a recyclable, monomaterial solution that is perfect for products that require MAP, rather than vacuum packing. It is ideal for pre-prepared food products requiring hot-fill processes, such as rice pots, jams, baby food, etc.
SP GROUP remains committed to innovation with versatile, customisable and sustainable packaging that helps our clients meet the guidelines set by the European Commission.
