Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=irZaxucpLyE&amp;t=58s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRAY2TRAY project<\/a>, based on the effective management of waste and excess production material, is a clear example of our commitment to the circular economy. Finally, after several years of work, we have finally made our dream a reality and are proud to introduce <strong>rPET<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The new <strong>rPET<\/strong> is a thermoformable monolayer PET laminate, made from <strong>100% post-consumption recycled material.<\/strong> It has an excellent degree of transparency, a good oxygen and water-vapour barrier, and it is fully <strong>approved for food use<\/strong>, being certified <strong>by ESFA standard No. 2017\/4843.<\/strong> This makes it ideal for packaging meat products, pre-prepared meals, desserts, biscuits and salads, among others. It also has excellent mechanical properties that make it tough and impact-resistant. Most importantly, however, with rPET we have met <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spg-pack.com\/en\/good-news-for-2018-we-will-stop-emitting-38-tonnes-of-co2-into-the-atmosphere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the sustainability objective<\/a> we set ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>As we announced in mid-2018, our priority was to achieve a<strong> 100% recycled material<\/strong>. To achieve this goal, we have been gradually reducing the use of virgin material in our rigid laminate since 2016. Last year <strong>we cut emissions of CO<sub>2<\/sub> into the atmosphere to around 38 tonnes<\/strong>, thanks to the use of recycled material from the TRAY2TRAY project.
