{"id":32450,"date":"2026-09-25T12:30:44","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T10:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spg-pack.com\/?p=32450"},"modified":"2026-09-25T12:30:46","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T10:30:46","slug":"recovefilm-new-ways-to-recover-flexible-films-that-currently-end-up-in-landfill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spg-pack.com\/en\/recovefilm-new-ways-to-recover-flexible-films-that-currently-end-up-in-landfill\/","title":{"rendered":"RECOVEFILM: new ways to recover flexible films that currently end up in landfill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SP Group is participating in RECOVEFILM<\/strong>, a research and development project aimed at improving the recycling of printed flexible lidding films used on rPET trays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, recycling this waste can result in defects in the recyclate, such as unmelted particles or gels, which limit its potential use as a post-consumer raw material. RECOVEFILM will investigate new solutions to reduce these issues, recover flexible packaging waste and facilitate its return to the polyethylene recycling stream, preventing it from ending up in landfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative brings together different stakeholders from across the value chain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SP Group<\/strong> will work on the development of materials for trays and flexible films that are compatible with recycling processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sulayr<\/strong> will investigate improvements to the recycling and regranulation conditions for flexible packaging waste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Andaltec<\/strong>, together with SP Group, will study the influence of components such as inks and adhesives on the recyclability of lidding films.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The cluster association<\/strong> will coordinate the project and manage the activities associated with its development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RECOVEFILM<\/strong> is being developed within Line 2 of the InnovAndaluc\u00eda programme, which aims to promote innovation projects coordinated by clusters and carried out through cooperation between companies and technology centres. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/organismos\/universidadinvestigacioneinnovacion\/areas\/innovacion\/ayudas-innovacion\/innovandalucia-fomento-innovacion.html\" target=\"_blank\" solutions aimed at improving packaging circularity while maintaining the functionality and industrial viability required for real-world
