RESEARCH PROJECTS
One of SP GROUP’s main objectives is to monitor and participate in all research projects aimed at ensuring packaging continues to evolve, solving specific issues and adapting to the needs of the market.
For this reason, we will be taking part in the following projects in the next few months:
-The SCAVENPACK project. Active-packaging technology to increase the shelf life of first class fruit and vegetable products. The main aim is to develop a packaging system that is able to extend the shelf life of fresh fruit and vegetables by at least 20% through slowing the ripening and deterioration processes. The project is led by PLÁSTICOS ROMERO, with Anecsur (Anecoop), HT Masterbatch and SP Group as partners. The project also has the support of ITENE and AVANZARE.
-The GOLDENFOOD PROJECT, for the design and development of nutritionally balanced, attractive and easy-to-manage food products for the elderly. This project is led by Destilaciones Bordas Chinchurreta and boasts the additional participation of La Aurora, Grupo Sada and Fepamic.
-The CONMACON project. This research project focuses on the Application of a Controlled Atmosphere for the Maturing and Preservation of Meat in Bulk. The aim is to improve the maturing and preservation process of Iberian pork and lamb destined for foreign markets, by applying controlled atmospheres to bulk products. The project is led by Señorío de Montanera, with the participation of OVISO, Abelló Linde and SP Group.
These three projects have been approved within the framework of the FEDER-INNTERCONECTA call for proposals. They are subsidised by CDTI (Industrial Technology Development Centre) supported by the Ministry of the Economy and Competitiveness and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
-The AVANZA-S project “Research and experimental development of new healthier foods and advanced packaging” focuses on obtaining new ingredients and food formulas as well as new systems and advanced packaging materials that allow us to obtain healthier, multifunctional meat products that meet the demands of consumers and public authorities in relation to health matters and sustainability. The project brings together 7 companies with extensive experience and abilities in the field of R&D: UVE, S.A. (consortium leader), ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN, S.A., BTSA Biotecnologías Aplicadas, MONTELOEDER S.L., NUREL S.A. (Grupo SAMCA), SP Group and BANDESUR ALCALÁ S.A. The project began in September 2015 and is programmed to last 4 years. It boasts the collaboration of 14 Spanish research centres, as well as the collaboration of Gabinete de Iniciativas Europeas, S.A. in terms of management. This project has been approved within the framework of CIEN Strategic Projects. It has been subsidised by the CDTI with the backing of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
We shall keep you informed of the progress of each of these projects as we receive news. We are firmly committed to R&D and Innovation for the future.
