CONSOLIDATING OUR PRESENCE IN EUROPE BY REACHING €145 M

SP GROUP ended 2018 with excellent financial results. The group’s turnover increased to 145 million euros, up 10% from the previous year. As regards group exports, we reached 51 million euros, which is an increase of 35%. Thanks to these figures, we have positioned ourselves at the forefront of the European market, consolidating our presence in countries such as Poland, Germany and France.

The excellent figures obtained in 2018 are the result of the investments made in recent years, both in R&D and innovation, our primary objective, as well as the acquisition of new state-of-the-art equipment and machinery, which has made it possible to increase our production of rigid packaging by 25%.

Trends within the packaging sector are marked by the intense search for sustainable solutions. During 2018 this led to SP GROUP developing new materials, the most significant of which is BIO FVSOL, as well continuing to develop our TRAY2TRAY circular economy project. The result has been a 38% reduction in CO2 emissions at the Espiel plant.

In 2019, SP GROUP aims to launch:

  1. Sustainable structures based on downgauging; incorporating repurposed and recycled materials; creating mono-material, recyclable structures; and expanding our line of biodegradable, compostable products.
  2. Structures that meet the demands of new consumers and their different lifestyles. In other words, materials that are appropriate for different heat-treatment processes, with formats that make the products easier to consume outside the home, as well as being versatile and personalised.

We are very pleased with how SP GROUP closed 2018, and hope to continue growing in 2019.
